What's the best and easiest way to clean tea stains in cups and mugs?

Does it have to sit a bit with salty water first or do you wash it immediately?

#2 No you use the salt as a kind of gentle sandpaper, it does not harm the cup but is rough enough to take away the tea stains

The way I find the easiest is to use a "stain eraser" (for Swedish users). It removes tea and coffee stains in seconds.

sugar cubes with a drop ofhand washing up liquid should work to. I havn't tried it for tea stains but it works wonders för burned food (come to think about it thanks to #6 tip)
