Never done, it but I would be pretty curious. Basically you add pressure on the leaves so it might release more flavour at one time, but reduce the amount of steepings. That's my guess.
Every tea leaf needs someone that truly understands him.

#2 So maybe it's best for those kind of teas that normally only taste great to steep one time? (like some black teas and most lower quality teas)

I think you're right. Broken leaves probably release flavour better when pressed.
